Congratulations to this week’s winners of the Players Of The Week awards for the Southern Divisions, this week all hailing from the Southeast Division.
Forward: Antonio Demacopoulos, Charlotte Rush.
Demacopoulos (‘98/Hickory Hills, Mich.) picked up two goals and two assists, including Sunday’s game-winner, in the Rush’s sweep of the Potomac Patriots this past weekend. Three of these points came in Saturday’s win, and Demacopoulos also has an active five-game scoring streak going, in which he has scored 10 points.
He has 27 goals and 60 points in 39 games, putting him at ninth in the league scoring race overall.
Defense: Austin Mourar, Richmond Generals.
Mourar (‘99/Spring City, Pa.) was his usual everywhere self for the Generals as they swept the visiting Atlanta Jr. Kings on Saturday and Sunday.
He scored two goals and two assists for the weekend, and improved to 49 points in 42 games this season, good for second among all USPHL defensemen.
Goal: Dominic Rodrigue, Carolina Eagles.
A ‘00-born goalie from Quebec City, Que., stopped 42 of 47 shots he faced from the powerful Hampton Roads Whalers team to secure an upset win and help the Eagles get closer to solidifying a playoff spot.
Rodrigue earned a two-game call-up to the NCDC’s Rochester Jr. Monarchs, which saw him stop 17 of 18 shots from the New Jersey Hitmen, the NCDC’s top team. In the USPHL Premier, he is tied for 12th in the league in save percentage at .932.
