Forward: Brendan Prappas, P.A.L. Jr. Islanders.
The Islanders captain, a ‘98 from Huntington Woods, Mich., picked up a pair of goals and three assists over his last three games. He earned two assists in a midweek Feb. 6 game against the New Jersey Rockets, then scored two goals and one assist in the weekend series against the second place Boston Junior Bruins.
Prappas has been red hot lately, scoring 10 points over his last five games heading into the Kings Showcase, while also playing a heavy north-south game.
Defense: Gregory McGunigle, Syracuse Stars.
McGunigle (‘99/Melrose, Mass.) has been a linchpin for the Stars lately, helping Syracuse to a five-game winning streak heading into showcase play.
He scored two goals, including the power play game-winner, and added two assists on Saturday in a 4-2 win over the Bandits. He also helped the Stars secure the weekend sweep on Sunday with strong defensive play. He had nine points over the course of his first three February games.
Goalie: Jake Begley, New Jersey Hitmen.
In Begley’s NCDC debut, he stopped 24 of 25 shots in a 4-1 win over the hot Northern Cyclones on the road. Begley (‘99/Lake Forest, Ill.) is a veteran of Minnesota High School hockey with Hill-Murray and U.S. Tier-1 junior hockey.
