Marlboro, MA- Connor Henry scored from his brother Sean 4:54 into overtime to lead the Junior Bruins to a 3-2 win in the USPHL Elite Division Championship game.
Goaltenders Ian Milosz (27 saves) and Mark Specia (39 saves) kept the teams off the board throughout the first period.
Jake Farabee broke the tie when he skated with Nathan Zweig into the Bruins’ zone on a 2-on-1 and faked the pass before shooting the puck past Milosz 2:39 into the second period.
Joseph Laskero put Syracuse up 2-0 when he took a pass from Blake Eberhardt and fired it over Milosz’ pads with 6:13 on the clock. Cameron Neely also assisted on the play.
The Bruins responded 24 seconds later when Jake McKinnon scored from Sean Henry and Andrew Popp.
Specia and the Stars kept the Bruins at bay for most of the third period, but with 1:49 remaining in regulation, Mike Moran took a pass from Sean Henry in the circle and shot it home to tie the game.
The teams came out hard in overtime and each had a couple of great opportunities until the Henry brothers ended the game at 4:54.

Peter McDonagh scored for the Bruins 12:13 into the contest with an assist from Jesse Lye. Bryan Ackil netted a power play goal from Michael Moran and Sean Henry at 3:58 of the third period. McDonagh tallied his second of the game from Andrew Popp and Daniel Blute with 2:04 to play. Ian Milosz had a 35-save shutout for the Bruins while Mark Specia made 34 saves for Syracuse.
Tampa Bay Juniors 3, Hampton Roads Whalers 2
Jared Goudreau drew first blood for Tampa Bay when he netted a power play goal from Chris Astrom and Trey Stern late in the opening period. Ryan Conery made it 2-0 when he scored from Connor Smith 4:39 into the second period. Trevor Voelker’s power play goal from Dominic Moore and Oliver Lindstrom at 11:47 put the Whalers on the board. Griffin Leach tied the game with a power play goal from T.J. Sneath and Jacob Gerson at 12:58. Drake Stimpson put Tampa Bay in front for good when he scored from Raven Woodring and Ryan Odgers at 17:24 of the second. Michael Krch made 25 saves for Tampa Bay while Blake Scott turned away 18 shots for the Whalers.
