Recent Syracuse Stars 16U News

The Stars defeated the Buffalo Jr. Sabres for the second time in two days to win the NYS Tier I U-16 tournament. 51 minutes were not enough to decide today’s championship game, as the Stars and Jr. Sabres headed into a sudden death overtime period. Bailey Krawczyk ended the game for the Stars with a little over 4 mins left in the first overtime. Gabe Vinal earned the 3-2 victory in net.

Syracuse Stars 16U Down #1 Rated Victory Honda

The Stars U-16 team was one of several top USPHL teams chosen to represent the East in the 1st annual Team Inn Invitational in Detroit this past weekend. Leading up to Sunday, the Stars faced tough competition, including a tough loss to nationally ranked #6 Honeybaked. By mid morning Sunday, Syracuse had accomplished the unimaginable. The Stars overcame nationally ranked #1 Victory Honda by a score of 4-3 in a shootout.

Syracuse Stars’ Young Talent Flourish in USPHL

The Stars are eyeing the Beantown Classic as an opportunity to continue their move up the Premier division ranks. Sitting just two games below .500, much of the Stars’ recent success can be attributed to two of the youngest players in the entire Premier league. Syracuse native, Matt Kirwan, a 1999 birth year, is amongst the youngest in the USPHL Premier division. Patrick Choi (1998) joined the Stars from Seoul, South Korea. 

Syracuse Stars: The Tradition Continues

The Syracuse Stars placed two teams in the Summer USPHL Showcase. Both teams progressed to the playoff round on Sunday, with Syracuse Stars Red remaining undefeated in the preliminary round, while falling to PAL Islanders Premier in the quarter final rounds. The Syracuse Stars Gray defeated the NJ Hitmen Futures and the PAL Islanders Premier in the semis. Syracuse Stars Gray met the Islanders Hockey Club Premier in the Championship game, where they were overcome 2-1.
