TOLEDO CHEROKEE LOOKING FORWARD TO FIRST SEASON IN USPHL

(TRIBE WILL PLAY IN GREAT LAKES CONFERENCE)

Toledo OH:         The 2018-19 season is just under two months away and the Toledo Cherokee are looking forward to playing their first season in the USPHL.

The Cherokee along with the Metro Jets, Wooster Oilers, Lansing Wolves, Pittsburgh Vengeance and the Lake Erie Big Horns (formally the Southern Tier Xpress) will make up the division known as the Great Lakes Conference.

The USPHL was founded in 2012, and comprised of more than 170 teams and has a blueprint across the United States which includes divisions in the NCDC, Premier, Elite, 18U, 16U, 16U Futures and Youth.

“Our organization is really looking forward to getting this new journey started in the USPHL.” Said General Manager/Head Coach Kenny Miller

Toledo will play a 44 game schedule, with 16 games at the Team Toledo Ice House, 16 on the road against divisional opponents and 12 showcase games throughout the season.

The Cherokee will travel to Chicago IL in October for the first of three showcases before heading to Boston MA in November and January. The Tribe will skate in four games over three days during the Showcases.

“The Showcase Series is big for our guys, our players will have the chance to play in front of a lot of scouts at these events. The East Coast is full of DI and DIII schools and to be able to go out to Boston twice and showcase our guys is big for our program. Every junior player wants to go to a team where they get maximum exposure and with all these showcases that’s just what the UPSHL offers.” Added Miller

The South Shore Kings of the NCDC will be working closely with the Cherokee this season. “The USPHL does a great job with the Premier division and NCDC working together.
